That's a good question. Since the final bicelle percentage for the crystallized proteins ranges from 2% to 8% (as shown in slide - "Membrane Proteins Crystallized in Bicelles"), it is ideal to test as many bicelle percentages as possible. That being said, I know the challenges involved in purifying large quantities of membrane proteins, so if there was only enough protein to test two percentages, I would recommend doing the 35% and the 25% - that way you've covered a higher and a lower percentage. And if one could do only single percentage, I would recommend the 35%.
