JANSi UVEX-T

JANSi UVEX™-T UV Imaging Microscope
Upgradeable High Performance UV Imaging

* Detect Protein Crystals  * Cool LED Illumination
*
Affordable  * Expandable  * Easy-to-Use

The JANSi UVEX™-T UV Fluorescence Microscope for protein crystallography captures both UV fluorescence and visible wavelength images from crystallization drops enabling you to locate crystals even in opaque drops, LCP or under heavy precipitate that could otherwise be missed using traditional imaging techniques.  All JANSi UVEX systems come standard with the same high precision, UV optimized, Quartz glass objectives.  The JANSi UVEX-T provides optical resolution of less than 1 micron, and affording the crystallographer the ability to detect very small crystals.  This not only saves valuable time in the process, but also has the potential to save money in setting up new experiments.

The JANSi UVEX-T also allows you to discriminate between protein crystals and other objects such as salt crystals.  Even in co-crystallization trials in which fluorescence may be quenched, a distinct intensity profile in the fluorescence image may differentiate between the crystals of the complex and the non-protein crystals.  By comparing the visible image and the UV fluorescence image, you can immediately detect and identify protein crystals, even a few microns in size.

The JANSi UVEX-T comes standard with a manually operated stage, the UV and Visible Wavelength LED Illumination Light System, the optical train and the CCD System all mated to a computer for capturing images of wells of interest.

The JANSi UVEX-T is also upgradeable to a fully automated plate scanning system with software driven image acquisition mated to a motorized X, Y, Z translational stage, motorized turret for switching objectives automatically, and web-accessible image database software for your servers.

UVEX-T Customer Reviews

*  "We had a project that had completely stalled, but when we used the UVEX we found crystals in a well which we had missed previously.  We were able to optimize the experiments and eventually solve a critical structure as a result of using the UVEX!  All of this during our demo.  We then bought one."  - Large Pharma Customer in CA

*  "We have been very pleased with the performance of the UVEX microscope. The scope is heavily utilized for our high-throughput crystallization screening.  In the majority of cases, when a tryptophan residue is in the sequence, we are able to confirm crystallization hits are proteins and not salts for both soluble and membrane proteins." - Joe Luft; Hauptmann Woodward
