MemX Lipidic Bicelles
MemX Lipidic Bicelles
Membrane Protein Crystallography
* Set-up in minutes instead of hours
* Behaves like a lipid yet aqueous at 4C
* No expensive LCP dispenser needed!
Membrane proteins can be readily reconstituted into bicelles and are maintained in a native-like bilayer environment, which can be manipulated with almost the same ease as for detergent solublized membrane proteins, making it compatible with standard high-throughput screening method. MemMagic Bicelle screen kits allows you to perform lipidic cubic phase experiments in minutes using conventional liquid handlers.
MemX Biosciences first generation products are based on lipidic bicelle technology. Formed by the mixture of lipids and detergents, bicelles provide a native-like bilayer environment for membrane proteins. The bicelle discs can be described as patches of lipid bilayers with detergent molecules lining the apolar edges of each bilayer. Bicelles present a compromise between a rigid lipidic medium and an artificial detergent medium while offering beneficial aspects from both. Once the membrane proteins are reconstituted into bicelles, they can be readily used for structural and functional studies.
Applications:
* Crystallography * NMR * Assay Development
