The JANSi UVEX™ Microscopes allow you to discriminate between protein crystals and other objects such as salt crystals.  The JANSi UVEX™ UV Fluorescence Microscopes for protein crystallography capture both UV fluorescence and visible wavelength images from crystallization drops enabling you to locate crystals even in opaque drops, LCP or under heavy precipitate that could otherwise be missed using traditional imaging techniques.

Even in co-crystallization trials in which fluorescence may be quenched, a distinct intensity profile in the fluorescence image may differentiate between the crystals of the complex and the non-protein crystals.  By comparing the visible image and the UV fluorescence image, you can immediately detect and identify protein crystals, even a few microns in size.

JANSi UVEX Overview

The JANSi UVEX™ line of UV Imaging Microscopes all come standard with the same high-precision, high quality, UV transmissible optics from JANSi allowing for the detection of extremely small objects.  No matter which system you choose, from the manual only UVEX-m to the fully automated UVEX-T, rest comfortably knowing that you have the best optics available for UV and Visible wavelength imaging. 

All JANSi UVEX systems also include the innovative LED lighting systems standard featuring Brightfield Imaging and UV Excitation with no measurable crystal damage or additional heat to the experiment.  The LED lightsource uses very little energy and will still be operating after hundreds of thousands of images thanks to the long life of LED light sources and the ability to "strobe" the light when needed only for imaging or live view.
